Chile, home of the Andes Mountains and the Atacama Desert, is a wonderful place for a holiday. With an amazing range of scenery, from dry desert to green forests and winding rivers to sandy beaches, it is a holiday destination to suit all tastes and pockets.

 

For the perfect adventure holiday, Pucon, a small town at the foot of Volcano Villarrica in Chile’s Lake District, is the place to go. You can go rafting, water-skiing or boating on the Trancura River. If you are in good shape, climb to the snow-capped top of Volcano Villarrica and enjoy the panoramic beauty of the Andes. You can also try horse riding or fishing, or simply relax in the hot springs that surround the Bio-Bio River.

For the perfect city break, go to Santiago, Chile’s capital. Here you will find luxurious hotels, shopping centres, museums, theatres and fun parks. You can eat at a variety of ethnic restaurants and try food from around the world. Be sure to try the national dish, empanada. It’s delicious! You can buy colourful rugs and beautiful jewellery in the large shopping centres and traditional markets which are open daily.
