There are different verbs that you can use in the reported speech.
Remember the following structures:
1. Verb + to infinitive
Promise
Refuse
Offer
“I won’t wash the dishes”, he said.
He refused to wash the dishes.
He refused to wash the dishes.
2. Verb + somebody + to + infinitive
Advise
Ask
Beg
Order
Warn
“Don’t move!", he said
He ordered me not to move.
3. Suggest + ing
“Let’s have some tea”, Jane said.
Jane suggested having tea.
